Alex
Alex
8ish months old; 37 lbs.
Brindle Puerto Rican Street Dog mix
A stocky baby
Alex was found wandering the street in a Lajas neighborhood after Hurricane María, bald due to mange and severely neglected. He landed at St. Asis shelter where they began treating him, and we met him during our shelter rebuild relief mission there where he proved sweet and friendly. As a kind and energetic pup, Alex has done wonderfully in his foster home in Portland with three other male dogs, all of whom he wants to play with and gains confidence from. Looking much better and fuzzier now that his hair is growing back, it will be important for Alex to stay on a flea preventative to keep his skin from being sensitive to mites. Still learning how to trust new people, things, and situations, Alex’s continued socialization and positive reinforcement training will be essential to this young guy who is already doing well in his crate, with potty training, and loves toys. Alex’s ideal forever home will include a secure, confident adult dog he can learn from.
