Snookums - seeking foster and/or adopter!

Snookums aka Phoebe
Age: 1.5 yrs old
Weight: 39 lbs
Sex: Female
Breed Stated on Paperwork: Mixed breed
Dogs: She loves other dogs and would benefit from having one in the home with her
Cats: She has lived with cats in the past, it’s manageable but she’s a bit too interested in them, and would probably do best in a home without cats.
Kids: She’s been very sweet with a young kiddo in her orbit, but due to some general anxiety and fearfulness, she may prefer a quieter, adults-only home.
In a Nutshell: Snookums (aka Phoebe) was adopted from us as a puppy and is now returning to our care. She is currently still with her guardians and we're seeking either a foster or adopter for her (maybe you want to foster-to-adopt to see if it's a match?!). She is spunky, playful, and fun-loving. She takes a minute to warm to new people, and responds well to calm, confident people who give her time to approach them. As soon as she feels comfortable with you, she loves to snuggle, and will happily spend the day cuddled on the couch with you. She loves her people and wants to be close. Spending time with other dogs is a great physical and emotional outlet for her - she appears to gain confidence and relax significantly when she has at least one dog at home with her, so we're seeking that in her next home. She is a fast learner and extremely treat-motivated. When she feels safe, she loves to explore and adventure with you. She's amazing in the car and happy to go around town or on longer drives.
Snookums/Phoebe is currently struggling with separation anxiety, most notably when no dogs are present at home with her. She does not currently have another dog at home with her, though she has successfully been left for an hour at a home when other dogs are there with her. We are hopeful that a future home with at least one dog (if not more!) will be a real game-changer for her, but her future guardians will need to be WFH, retired, or able/willing to take her with them most places - at least for the foreseeable future and as she settles in with you. Her current guardians adore her, but just aren't able to meet her needs long-term (they're a one-dog-only household) and, while we've seen her growing confidence when in a home with another dog, she may also just be a velcro dog looking for an adopter who is down to have a little shadow.
Her current guardians have very helpfully put together a website sharing even more info and pictures of her. If you'd like to learn more about her, please email us at adoptions@otatpdx.org or submit an adoption survey and we'll be back in touch!
